Because it's a human putting it in place instead of a robot.
He is correct, they never are quite the same fit as OE and you do risk damage when replacing it. I worked at 2 dealers where we had to replace windshields. I always dreaded doing them, trying to get them in the same place and not jack anything up is stressful.
