Hey all,
So I am not new to modding cars, but usually I just go with aftermarket products that are pre-fabbed for the car already. On the z I have gone a little different route and need some help/opinions. Please dont flame for lack of knowledge, explain it to me and I will be grateful!

I had an exhaust set up that consisted of test pipes, a top speed Y pipe, and a custom single exit muffler. The piping going into the single muffler was 3 inches from the y pipe back. This setup had a good increase in the "butt dyno" but I didnt ever have an actual dyno performed. The reason I got rid of this setup, was because besides it being slightly loud, the flex pipes on the y pipe would slightly rattle, and make a noise that I could not stand.

I recently changed the exhaust to a different setup, and It feels like I lost a decent amount of power, So I am looking to see if there are suggestions, or something I could do to regain some of it. It feels like I lost most of the power in the lower rpm range.

I switched the setup to Test pipes (the same ones), and then I had a muffler shop weld in some pipes to the stock muffler and bolt up. The pipes running from the test pipes are 2.5, and they run into the stock muffler with flanges. This quieted the car down a good deal, I did use some 2.5 inch resonators as well. The car is quiet when you are regularly driving, but when you get on it it is very loud. I like the sound, I am happy with it and it doesnt bother me. The power or proposed "feel" of the loss of power is what bothers me. Should I maybe add an x or y pipe to this setup? Has anyone else run this set up and noticed the same thing?or a loss in power from the stock configuration?

I will post up a video and pics as time permits. It sounds great so this may be an option for those who want a little additional sound, although I am sure a lot of the sound comes from my test pipes.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I will be buying a nice exhaust system when I go FI, I just dont want to bite the bullet on something now, And I am currently looking into the sts kits which would render my exhaust useless anyways.
