I was pulled over about 5 times in my 370z by local and state troopers. EVERY single time, not only I had my radar detector in place, I had it
ON. NO tickets. They never mentioned anything about the detector. I usually drive in South Jersey and AC Expressway going Philly. Just slap it on the windshield and you'll be fine. However, I will share a story. When I had my camaro, after getting pulled over, I shut the radar off and put it in my glove box as I'm waiting for the cop to come to my car. WORST decision ever. Cop thought I reached for a weapon in the glove box. He came to my window with his gun drawn and had me put my hands out the window. Just act normal and tell the cop honestly what's up. Chances are he'll let you go. I'm going on 5 pull overs 0 ticket (knock on wood).
