Default Engine Codes

Disconnecting the battery sometimes will put the ECU in "back up" mode and will cause the light to come on. This happened with mine because I bought a showroom z and its battery was not connected. The dealer said "give it about 50 miles and it will reset itself". It did not. A code reader does the trick.

Also Autozone does not read codes anymore -- at least not around Sacramento. Something about CARB-blah-blah or insurance-blah-blah.

Anyway get a reader like everyone suggested. They come in handy and pay for themselves fast.
