Default 99 RON/MON/AKI fuel vs. performance

In the UK, most premium fuel is 97RON or similar blend with adatives to give the illusion that it outperforms standard 97RON fuel. (V-power/Optimax).

However, one of the UK outlets (Tescos) sells 99-RON fuel.
My 2010 370z GT Auto Coup absolutely rockets on this fuel. Not just a bit, like i can see the difference and I'm over-excited. Like, it really rocks and it's as though (in a maner of speaking) that you just got another 40hp out of nowhere.
Also, to my mind at least, the 'choking' effect you get at high-rev range goes away, smooth power to the red-line (or just before in actual fact).

I suspect, given the noticeable improvement that the car was actually mapped to this stuff when designed. Much smother performance overall, and you get better MPG.

Please try this magic stuff if you can get it. Looking at WIKI, i think they only way you can get it in the US is to go for stuff badged 'race fuel', as the pumps only seem to go to 91 (from memory).

But heck, it's worth it!

I don't intend to trigger a fierce dibate, but rather to communicate my findings in the hope it helps others.

It certainly gives me back (in my own head at least) the ~10% disappointment I got (vs. expectations from on-paper spec.) when the valves open up when redlining it (no more dull buzz like an 'over-revving straight 4', just proper V6 grunt and growl), and overall performance/efficiency boost. In my mind, the car would now get a 10/10 in every score, except the rear-wiper that fell off, but who needs those.

Have a nice day!
