this brings up an interesting discussion i had over the weekend with some friends. the 350z was constantly changing. although it remained virtually the same between 03 and 04, in 05 they introduced then optional "revup" 300hp engine (up from the standard DE's 287hp iirc) then in 07 they made every car come with the "HR" VQ which produced 306 hp. is the 370 going to be the same? obviously the original release with 332 hp then the follow up of the 350hp version in the nismo is one thing but it's not the standard unit in the base model like it was in the 07's (everything from the base model to the nismo got it). will nissan introduce a direct injection VQ into the 370 or wait till the next body style? a direct injection VQ could easily make upwards of 375hp or more putting it more in direct competition with the camaro and mustang who have just barely edged over the 400hp mark (granted with a LOT more weight than a Z). then again, this would edge the Z34 closer to the performance of the GTR which it needs to keep itself seperated from. it will be interesting to see how the 370 evolves over the course of it's life as a production vehicle. also i don't see the Z going down in displacement since every version of the Z has had a larger displacement compared to it's predecessor but i could see an only slight bump (maybe 3.8 or 3.9L) with a light presssure TT setup with direct injection as a "Z35" engine setup, at least optionally, as gov't CAFE standards get more and more strict while the EPA dictates car get closer and closer to zero emissions... yay government for tinkering with business in our "free market" *rolls eyes*

p.s. Z's have always been a good marketable money-maker for nissan, this whole "not profitable" notion seems a little strange to me. i could see them not making an R36 due to being "not profitable" since it's such a low production (and currently low selling) vehicle but the Z should be safe in it's continuation into the future. Mr. K wouldn't have it any other way...
