40th roll bar and interior install
5 Attachment(s)
Ok fellas I just send my oem seats and doors to be completely redone. Instead of the off red nonsense I'm changing it to real red and black with a couple tricks up my sleeve. I'm also installing a auto power weld in roll bar. We started last night and I only snapped a couple pics but I'm starting this to hopefully show our progress.Attachment 46873. Bar sit to low so we had to fab up some boxes to get it higher. Attachment 46874. Attachment 46875. Attachment 46876Attachment 46877

Nice. How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking? Coz I know you can go for the Amuse titanium to replace the aluminum OEM and be more functional for $1000. Btw, are you gonna paint it too? It would look sick with either red or quartz.

I think the autopower weld in kit retails for around 500.
Nice job so far! |

This car sees the track from time to time so I wanted that level of safety that way my passenger and I could feel a little more comfortable in the car. This car also will have 4 point harnesses so it will hold me to the seat. This car will also see show time too. Im a big believer that you can get functionality and looks from the same car. This car is my daily driver and it goes 50 miles round trip to work. It has full suspension, twin turbo, and now safety parts. I want to feel confident if a problem ever arises I will be fine. Even with all this this car is very compfortable. |
Yes the bars will be painted the same red as my headlights and brake calipers.

nice set up, its looking good!

Pretty disappointing how low the AutoPower bar sits and that you had to make modifications to correct that. The least they could have done was make it a few inches longer and then allowed people to cut it if they needed.
|
Yea I know. Auto power has a history of things fitting like crap so I already knew it wasn't going to be a easy install. But it's actually going together pretty good because we had some metal plate laying around from a project a week ago and we just welded it up together and it's actually better then the stuff they gave us.

Interior leather arrived today so it should all be finished in a couple days.
|
Which hood is that?
|
thats awesome!
|
Looks great. Only thing is now you have to wear your harness every time you drive your car. If you get in a accident and hit your head on one of those bars you will most likely not survive. So buckle up.

Installing all the plastic back in is a nightmare. Looks like we're gonna do some custom interior parts to make the install look cleaner. Basically had to butcher the oem stuff just to get it to fit.
|
subscribed, i have the autopower roll bar myself and am needing to get it put in, so far just the sparcos are in with my takata harnesses and roll bar waiting.
|
Rick it looks good once it's in but it def not a easy install. Needs more fabbing then I thot.
|
My interior guy went out of town. Hel jump back on it Wednesday. Stay tuned for the finished results.
|
cool, ya im waiting to see how much fab work is needed.
the shop i took my car to get the seats and all my power mods was initially going to take care of it but they let me know they couldnt when they realized how much work it was gonna take and what would need to be done to the interior. i found another shop that does custom roll cages so they will be able to install and weld it in as needed but i dont think ill be able to get custom plastic made so ill probably be left with either butchered interior pieces or have to be okay without the pieces back in that were removed. |
i had a guy that builds racecars and he works on my transmissions weld it in so I knew the plastic would be bad but I also have a friend of mine who does all of my interior and and my sound system and all that so I brought it to him and hes going to do the fit and finish of the oem plastic stuff. It just takes making either wood or fiberglass covers where we had to cut so it wouldnt look like we had to cut it. Wel probably just wrap all the covers in either matching vinyl to match the seats or just do black vinyl to just hide it all together. It sits behind the seats anyways. even with the crazy cuts somebody has to get in the car and look around the seats to see it. My best advice is to put as much plastin in the car as possible before you weld. If you want to do a aftermarket sound system change the speakers thats on the wall right next to the seats before you weld it in. You also have to deside if you want the oem seat belts or not. the bar runs right over where the bolt is to take it out. Im using harnesses so i yanked my oem out.

Were almost there. Just finishing the fiberglass to cover the holes around the bars. Seats are covered. LOOKSSSSSS SICKKKKKKK

Complete waste of time and added weight. Hope it makes you feel safer. I've flipped and rolled a car going over 100 and the roof was in great shape. It had a moon roof too.
