Nismo Wheels on my 40th.

Woohoo!!! Thanks to hdskull, my 40th has new shoes!

Nitrouz 03-11-2011 03:30 PM

looks ok...I prefer the oem 40th wheels on the 40th Quartz Gray.

m4a1mustang 03-11-2011 03:33 PM

Very nice. I love the NISMO wheels. I'd like them more on the 40th in a dark gunmetal, though.

djpathfinder 03-11-2011 04:03 PM

The thinner spokes will help show off the calipers, but get them painted gunmetal. Darker rims look nicer on the 40th.

karotZ 03-11-2011 05:19 PM

Thanks guys. Well, the reason I traded the 40th wheels is because the 40th was "too grey". I know I know, there is nothing as too grey, I just felt it was. If ever I decide to powder coat them, I will do it in satin black.

karotZ 03-11-2011 05:22 PM

Added a new photo to show the drilled and slotted rotors behind the nismo wheels.

djpathfinder 03-11-2011 05:30 PM

The rotors look good. Are those DBA rotors? One piece or two? Why did you remove the two deflector pieces in front of the wheel wells?

LMBmikeZ 03-11-2011 05:43 PM

Looks pretty good. But I think darker wheels look better on the 40th though to...

BrickyardZ 03-11-2011 05:51 PM

I thought about Nismo wheels but couldn't do it. The 40th wheels look great and help give the car it's unique look. That being said, you can't go wrong with the Nismo wheels.

Thanks! These are Stillen 1 piece D&S rotors. Got a really good deal from Stillen. As far as the front deflectors, I'm lowered on H&R springs, they keep scraping. I will be removing my front spoiler as well once I switch to TEIN Super Street Coils.

Yeah, but everyone is going black and anything darker. I wanted contrast since I got tired of the 40th being too dark and grey. And yes, I am starting to regret getting this color. LOL

The 40th wheels are just regular powdercoated Rays. I can always powdercoat my Nismo if needed. And I can always buy 40th rims from a vendor here for a really good price if needed - but I doubt it. I'm loving the Nismo wheels like big time! No need to paint my door handles, rear headlights, and my front headlights! Coz if I still had the 40th Rays, I felt the need to paint the lights black and the door handles into body color.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!!!!

LOL

Nismo221 03-11-2011 09:07 PM

I would powdercoat them gunmetal or black!

natepaulus 03-12-2011 03:51 AM

Lovin it!!

I was just wondering the other day how the 40th would look with lighter shoes. Definitely diggin' th 3-way contrast of the body-calipers-wheels! Please post some light of day pics??

Honestly, you took a chance and it paid off big time. Nice.

Footloose301 03-12-2011 10:20 AM

I like Nismo wheels but the color doesn't go well. The darker wheels look better.

98intrigue 03-12-2011 12:14 PM

I like it...

For now, I'll keep it OEM look. I might powdercoat them matte silver just to repair some of the rashes. If I start going satin black, I have to tint my tail lights and blacken my headlights! Too much money! LOL

Thanks man! I was wondering the same too. It paid off. I really like the contrast, the whole body being dark, the rotors and rims in silver and the caliper in red. Looks awesome in person esp. when just detailed! :driving:

Wow! Somehow I missed this thread earlier. The Nismo 370Z wheels are in my opinion the best wheel for the 370Z, whether Nismo or not. Of course I'm a little biased since I have a set too.

Next, I really like the way the OEM Nismo color looks on the 40th Anniversary. The dark/light contrast is nice. Plus the red calipers really stand out with the Nismo wheels being so open.

Thanks brotha! I thought of the same thing rather making the 40th too dark.

Personal preference. To each of his own as they say, I went with the dark/light contrast rather than grey/grey or grey/black.

370SteeZ 03-06-2012 02:42 PM

What size spacers were you running with that setup? Looks clean

Crxckadome 06-04-2013 11:38 PM

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I was curious with the new 2013 Nismos out, has anyone put those wheels on the 40th since they are darker graphite color? Or has anyone had the older Nismo wheels painted to match the current 40th wheel's color? Curious to compare the darker vs lighter color on 40th.
I'm sure someone good at photo shop could pull it off...

LMBmikeZ 06-05-2013 05:16 AM

there's pics on here *http://www.the370z.com/search.php*

Check these threads I am sure there is at least one member who posted the nismos on a 40th they were colour matched KAV  :yum:

check out gurneyeagle's car. his use to be a 40th.... now a nismo 40th. :icon17:

Crxckadome 06-06-2013 12:21 AM

Kenchan, I checked out his Z and it's just a 2011 silver with Nismo wheels.
I also didn't see any on those two threads, searched up and down those many of times. Google didn't even come up with any results...

LMBmikeZ 06-06-2013 04:41 AM

ok I will find one!

Agreed. Actually the wheels from the '13 Nismo would look killer.

LMBmikeZ 06-06-2013 04:44 AM

HA! found one already in one of those threads I linked!

It's a Amuse kit 40th but it looks F*CKING SEXY :yum:

Actually IIRC theres another member who's 40th owner with colour matched Nismos I would have to search but it was discussed that the rims are actually a different paint code for the 40ths they are not painted KAV.

But yes smoking the nismos would look :yum:

Crxckadome 06-06-2013 10:19 AM

@ Mike- Sorry I didn't clear that up earlier- I've seen the one you posted but it's not with KAV colored wheels. IMO they look great on the car silver but I'd love to see them with a gunmetal or KAV color too. I know for sure I wouldn't be a fan of all black Nismo wheels on the 40th.
Thanks for helping in this needle in a haystack search though! Looks like I might just have to buy them and paint them to post a damn picture lol

that's odd, he had it painted to KAV...

FLYZ 06-10-2013 07:17 AM

I thought the new 2013 nismo wheels were gunmetal, as well.

Crxckadome 06-10-2013 08:40 AM

I believe you're right, so even getting those would require a re-spray... I'm going to bite the bullet soon enough and either have them fully polished or paint them KAV, probably after Disney in July.

LMBmikeZ 06-10-2013 08:44 AM

The wheels on the 40th are not painted KAV

Crxckadome 06-10-2013 07:00 PM

Really? I must have mis-read that somewhere in the forum then. What color are 40th wheels painted?
Also- side question- do you have a tracking number for that spring? Still hasn't popped in the mail.

karotZ 06-11-2013 06:10 PM

Oooh, my old thread got revived. Try to have someone photochop a 2010 40th with 2013 Nismo wheels. Let me see what I can do.

Crxckadome 06-11-2013 09:35 PM

Someone did in the Official photoshop request thread that I requested but it's not the same color. His photoshop was a duller color Nismo wheel.

LMBmikeZ 06-11-2013 10:09 PM

there has been wheels that were colour matched to KAV and they did look pretty good but not the same as OEM 40th wheels :ugh2:
