Alrighty, I have my car in possession. The car runs and drives but there are a few hanging chads left on the build. I suppose that is normal on an extreme build. Auto Dynamix had the car between May - Oct and worked on it between a lot of projects. BUT... the car burned up about 80hrs of shop time nailing down loose ends. I'm not surprised by this because I've lived that experience over and over like ground hog day.
The Bad (minimal):
The paddle shifting doesn't work exactly right because there is a single wire that sends a 5v(upshift) and 3.5(downshift), so the trigger needs to be changed. Small drip on the PS pump so that's a line or a tightening issue, of which I had the shop tighten the line already. I guess it needs another look. A slight dip on power sometimes when I hit the throttle (street tuning stuff). The Gauge cluster was not put back in, that pissed me off. BUT... I mentioned something about going to FuelTech, that's probably why it was left off.
All that will be addressed but the shop... because I have paid for them to do it. No big deal, that stuff happens.
The Good:
The car packaging came together exactly how I wanted. Turbos, piping, radiator all sit cleanly under/behind the bumper. As you all seen, it was kind of a b!tch to do. As you can imagine... the car is ridiculously fast - even on low power. I've been driving the car on the street at 370whp/wtq and the power window is between 3,800 - 7,200. It's an animal. The best thing about the build is that the car handles like it is on rails! I was shocked!
The hood still has to go on. We're going to aim to get that done in a few weeks. The car pumps out massive amount of heat so it will be interesting with the hood. The Delta Pag fan puts in work, I'm glad I got that and had the shroud done. Temps are frequently around 190-210 (normal) but I watch it like a hawk.
I don't think I've left any stone unturned in this build and have shown every aspect of the swap in this LONG thread. A commitment was made to show the whole process of the swap. As you can tell, I'm particular about the specifics. I wish I could say the entire process was easy and cheap for me. It wasn't. Maybe this thread will help someone pick and choose how deep they want to go for a swap. My goal has been mostly accomplished showing the particulars of doing a higher end swap. I'm happy with the results; but, I'm not going to do this again. Refinement will continue and I'll post that infrequently.
Cheers to you all for following this through the years!
Here's a picture walk through.
Massive relay for PS pump and how the waterlines come into engine bay
Head shielding for headlights - Turbo blanket AND metal stand off plate to create an air barrier
Touch up of surface rust under seat area
Carpet is not in... Need the shop to take care of a few remaining things...
