It's been a bunch of years since I lived in Alberta or BC for that matter. But Alberta didn't use salt on the roads, but sand is a pain in the EVERYWHERE so if you do drive it be sure to give it a good power wash and all should be good. Be thankful you don't live here in Ontario...the saltiest place in Canada. I drive my roadster year round but usually leave it at home when the roads are wet. If it gets salted I give it a warm wash and have an anti-rust module. So far no rust at all. Good luck with the job
