Whatever you call it, if you need the cleaner, you have a problem somewhere else (probably the choice of oil).

But it's difficult to argue with success. If you're using a high-quality oil and still getting noise that the cleaner eliminates, then who am I to say not to use it? I'm guessing it's the lube part, not the cleaning part, that is causing the noise reduction you are seeing and that you could get the same effect with the "right" oil.
