When I fitted an auto dimming mirror I removed the rain sensor cover (pulls off) and ran the cable to the interior light unit (which I had removed from the headliner). Thats as far as I went as I used the light as a power source (sub light)

Perhaps if you did that and also removed the interior light you could use a length of wire coathanger to see if its possible to get to the top of the A pillar.

To permit the the entry of the cable from the auto dimming mirror I filed a small notch in the rain sensor cover.
