You also have to consider expansive soils. I don’t know anything about the soils in the Carolina’s but from the pictures it seemed like he had a basement, which means that foundation is way below the ones he’s building for the extension. Either way, it’s going to settle.

You can always surcharge the virgin soil to force the settlement before you apply the final lid, but that ship has sailed on this project.
