No problem I’m here to help the Z community whenever I can. More times than not it is valve body failure and solenoid replacement your mechanic shop is giving correct information. It is a rare occurrence the TCM or PCM failure will occur on Nissan/Infiniti vehicles unless it was damaged internally as said the 7AT transmission is a reliable/dependable transmission as well as the software. Remanufactured or used can sacrifice quality purchasing a new Genuine Nissan OEM valve body is the best advice. Yes the TCM can be transferred to the new valve body and be reused if it is not damaged. Although you must have the TCM reprogrammed if your mechanic/shop can not perform the reprogram go to a Nissan dealership service department you trust to have this done. When you pull your pan, drain all transmission fluid, and replace your gasket you will notest shifting will be improved after transmission fluid is changed. As stated by my tuner if you are changing anything with the transmission shift point firmness etc. you must retune immediately after as values will change when replacement occurs no matter if you upgrade to the Level 10 valve body or not. Once this is changed as you stated you already did this must be corrected through your tune immediately after or this could be detrimental to your transmission. Look forward to a retune. Too bad you are selling your Z it really is an amazing vehicle to own. Are you considering the 400Z when Nissan enveils it?
