My understanding in talking with tuners is that none of the tune software currently available will actually access or alter the code in the TCU.

What tuners do, is alter the inputs to the TCU, to “trick it” into changing transmission performance, shift points, etc..

Even then, the results are limited in terms of significant changes in shift feel, shift timing or converter lock-up behavior.

A different trans or different TCU may respond differently with your existing tune. Odds are it will be fine. But a touch up tune might be needed depending on what your tuner did originally.
