Yes, you had to be ready for that one... it started at 9 pm with a 2 mile running race to the waters edge to get in your canoe and then it was 120 miles downstream nonstop to Oscoda. You had to portage 5 dams during the night. If you were really good you could finish by 11am the next morning.

It is such a big race that teams from all over the world come to race it. Usually about 60 canoes start but only about 50 actually finish. It is pretty tough. My best time was a 14 hrs and 47 minutes for an 8th place.

Last years total prize purse was over a $1M

Back then I had 6 canoes at a time that I alternated training on. I don't have even one now, but I have 5 kayaks...
