Now I am up for 5K for a rebuild to handle more pwr. But being in Australia, a building a 7AT trans has never been attempted. Therefore, I am thinking of buying the master rebuild kit from IPT, not LVL10! And having a local shop build it.

Or does anyone rekon I could do a swap to another trans type, like a TH400 or 680le, they would be much cheaper and available here?

Anybody could have advice here?
How much whp and wtq are you currently making? The whine noise you are hearing could be coming from several different places. Sounds like it is time to rebuild or replace your 7AT transmission and if it were me I would stick with the 7AT transmission and upgrade it unless you are considering a 6MT transmission swap?? From my experience if you do not have a reputable transmission or driveline shop that you trust doing the rebuild I would purchase a new upgraded 7AT transmission and have it shipped to you there are several different vendors other than Level 10 that have upgraded 7AT units your choice. Also before you purchase a new transmission or have your current transmission rebuilt you should have the noise diagnosed in person by a reputable shop or Nissan dealership service department you trust bringing your Z to.
