Default still having problems...

I can sympathize with you JKATT. I had a 2010 for 5+ years, OCT 2013 through DEC 2018. At first, it was a fun car; the convertible top worked for the first 18 months I had it. Then came the intermittent problem opening the top. Ironically, the top seemed to open without a problem when it was 80 degrees or more. That is when I'm reaching for the A/C control.
Nissan tried to adjust; no joy. Finally, after three attempts at adjustments, a call to the Nissan Customer Support (empathetic but no real help), a visit to a local convertible repair shop (specialist) recommended by the Nissan dealership, replacing the top a a cost of $19K was recommended. (Your $9K quote from 1 year ago is a bargain by comparison). The cost of repairing/replacing the top exceeded the car's value.
Ultimately, I found the convertible Z to be an expensive disappointment. The car functioned as designed from the neck down but the power convertible top can be a problem as you see on this forum.
I traded it in as is and took what I could get for it. But I wasted a lot of energy and some $$$ getting to that point. Problem solved.
No more power convertible tops in my future.
