My basic understanding was that the AGM batteries (such as Optima) are not as susceptible to vibration and jarring. I know a lot of guys that use them for off-road. But there are certainly some benefits for on-road use. Sections 7.1.4 and 7.1.5 have a nice little list for AGM batteries that you can compare to Sections 7.1.1 and 7.1.3 for wet batteries.
