ever since I went BMW TT I cant go away from a TT setup. Just too much power to unlock with it. But I miss the VQ engine so much. I may be switching sometime soon.

Despite some quirks with the VVEL setup and response, the VQ definitely sounds great and has its own characteristics especially after slapping on some turbos. I saw the new M5 the other day, and it definitely sounds silky smooth. I've seen a few Porsche on the road, but for some reason I'm not too crazy about the engine sound on the N/A ones.

Quite honestly it is difficult to letting my Z go. I've yet to find anyone faithful enough to seriously want to purchase it. Lots of flakes. Then again I'm not making it that easy to sell the car, but mainly to weed out the flakes. Hanging on to it tests my patience to work my butt off the next couple of years to clear my plate. The car is paid off, so that's a start.

The engine is running great, so I don't see any point building it. I'd rather get it tuned for better response and change the look with a new color scheme.

I do however want the new M4 :yum: (or used gtr lol)

Thanks again. I'm looking forward to wanting a wife and kids haha.

Majorwoody 09-13-2014 05:41 AM

DIGI,

Only in my wildest dreams I can even come close to the specs of your amazing Z. Since your car is paid off, why not keep it? I wish I have a car like yours.

Oh boy, if I ever receive the settlement money from my car accident when I got T-boned in 2012, I'd buy your car in a heartbeat and still keep my car as a garage queen while I slowly mod her up.

GLWS and bump for a supernice Z!

DIGItonium 09-14-2014 01:13 AM

Thanks. I'm just open to sell it to serious buyers. So far I've been getting flakes. But I don't mind keeping and building it up. It's just difficult to balance home ownership and car project. Seriously though it's difficult to let it go.

DIGItonium 09-23-2014 09:13 PM

Bump. Still looking for a serious buyer. Nothing much changed. Price updated. I still need to find time to remove the lip kit.

DIGItonium 10-09-2014 10:32 AM

Bump... still looking for serious buyer to take over this project.

DIGItonium 10-14-2014 11:09 AM

Bumpity bump!

DIGItonium 11-03-2014 12:48 PM

Bump! Still open to selling.

jwick 11-03-2014 01:25 PM

Still voting on you should drive that thing to Houston and let JTran put a built motor in it :stirthepot:

Built motor, bigger turbos, external wastegates, 3" exhaust... :yum:
Someday...

BTW, I miss visiting Houston! I'm still trying to shed weight off from a couple of years ago (e.g., last relationship).

KratikosG37 11-04-2014 03:07 PM

Wow if I didn't have the G your car would be sold.

TO ME.:hello:

tferrick 11-10-2014 07:28 PM

Wow, Sorry to see you are having the same difficulty selling your car. It's absolutely crazy that you are down to $25k. Tells me that people don't seem to understand what it takes to build your car (or mine). Looks like I need to get a quote to tear my car down and put it back to bone stock, then give it away. Good luck, I feel your pain

Yea. I don't see any point parting out because I don't have the OEM parts laying around anymore. Labor is one thing, but getting the OEM parts back would become costly. Plus, it's no fun without the turbos haha.

Chuck33079 11-11-2014 08:58 AM

I think it's time to just keep the car. Your difficulty in selling it is the universe telling you that you should keep it.

Are you telling me to keep it, Chuck? :stirthepot:

I do love this car... I never stop smiling whenever I drive it. Lots of dreams... but on hold. Haha.

KratikosG37 12-18-2014 12:16 PM

Christmas bump.

DIGItonium 03-18-2015 01:41 PM

Everyone is telling me to keep the car. I'm slowly in a better position this year starting next month. I still love my car since I wouldn't want to give up a manual for the likes of a GT-R, NSX, etc.

Although I'd love to build up the motor and get bigger turbos one day, I might start making plans for a 2015 NISMO conversion and repaint the entire car a darker color.

I'll plan a build when the motor gives up. Otherwise, I'll just do some maintenance and hope the motor will last me several more years so I can focus on making the car show worthy.

GaleForce 03-18-2015 10:45 PM

Good to hear. I like your future plans too.

DIGItonium 03-19-2015 08:53 AM

Thanks. The busted up lip kit is driving me nuts. I'm done with lip kits because it's a pain to use the swinging arm type lift, and speed bumps are everywhere. I think it'll look just fine out it, and I'm looking forward to someday repaint the entire car a darker graphite color.

Mavrik 06-03-2015 11:18 PM

PM sent

AstatenateZ 06-06-2015 08:12 PM

Still for sale?

DIGItonium 06-06-2015 09:21 PM

As of now, no. Trying to getting running well. Possibly vacuum leak somewhere.

If you get tired of messing with it or it goes back for sale let me know! Thanks man! :)

It's between you and Mavrik, haha. Nice to find people who want to take over the project. The car isn't running super rich anymore, so there's no more raw fuel smell. The slight jump in idle was already there before I did the maintenance work, and I guess resetting the ECU made it more apparent. I'm going to check the vacuum lines and switch to screw bands instead of zip ties. Other than the bouncing idle the engine seems to run so much better than before.

Haha good ole zip ties. Well lmk if you decide to sale and if Mavrik doesn't jump on it. I got hit about 1 1/2 week ago and they totaled my car. Only had front bumper, passenger head light, hood, passenger fender damage. Not sure how a 26k car is totaled for 3 body panels and a head light. But oh well. They're cutting me a check that I should be getting my check in the upcoming week. So I've been looking everywhere for something :(

I've been on and off about selling. It makes me sad to let it go, but that's life and sometimes there are bigger priorities. It's not easy balancing this hobby and a house on my own the past 3 years. :(

Anyhow. I just gotta tighten up the lines today. When the new filters come in I will try to come up with a method to do a smoke test. Seems no one's willing to lend a hand so I've been working alone the past month. But man... it runs so much better and there's no raw fuel smell.

jwick 06-07-2015 12:25 PM

Sucks you don't live in Houston. I'd be more than willing to help

Yeah I got family in Kansas City and in Missouri. So I come that way fairly often. I'd be more than willing to help if you were a little closer. But at least if you do get it taken care of, I'm close enough to come get it from you! I'm not in a really big rush but in the next 2-3 weeks I'll have a check from my insurance company and will be really trying to find something. :/ I miss my z

DIGItonium 06-07-2015 08:26 PM

Thanks, all. Here's an update. I couldn't find smaller screw clamps, so I redid the zip ties and switched out the hose to the boost gauge. The hose didn't fit the intake manifold barb as well. So a combination of all this may have reduced or eliminated the idle surge and the code hasn't popped up. It seems to be running much better. After test driving the idle still bounces a tiny bit, but doesn't climb to 1k anymore.

Awesome news. Congrats on getting the idle issue resolved. It always seems like the smallest piece of the puzzle is the one that causes the issue. Hopefully with everything fitting properly the car will relearn and smooth out over time even more than it has now.

Damn sorry to hear that. I know it gets said a lot but the more important part is that you are ok. The car can and will be replaced.

DIGItonium 06-18-2015 08:56 AM

Unfortunately nothing got fixed. I found the leak, which was under the passenger side of the intake manifold. So I pulled everything back out to inspect it, and it looks fine. Think it was improper torquing I re-installed it. No such luck. So as I carefully torqued the bolts one broke off, so I'm pretty much stuck right now.

One of my friends is going to see if he can help remove the broken bolt. At this point, the intake manifold might have a crack somewhere which is probably the reason for the headaches the first place.

Priority is to get the broke bolt out, and then I have to put the car in the back burner for now while I find the time and funds to re-sod the backyard. :(

The car is still drivable... just with the intake manifold leak.

DIGItonium 04-20-2016 10:42 AM

Sorry for flip flopping. I was tired of dealing with sketch or no shows. I'm open to selling my car again. I'm asking for $20k, but am open to reasonable offers.

I love my car, but there are other priorities in life.
