Black 2009 sport package 370z salvage title... Would make a great starting point for a racecar if someone is interested in spending a little money and taking on a project. Owner wants low $20s. Spend $2K and get it back on the road. Spend another $8-10K for tires, an oil cooler, brake pads and a GTM or Stillen supercharger and you will have a 450+whp beast for track days! It needs a new main wiring harness and ECU before it will run. I am told that everything else is in nearly new condition. Call me if interested and I will help you work something out with the seller.

No pics of the damaged side?

travisjb 06-14-2010 05:42 PM

I don't think the car has any damage... I'll try to get more pics and details of the carfax... stand by for more

Update... here are some details from the seller

"It has just a little over 4,000 Miles on the Odometer. It is a Salvage Title. The engine is 100%. It was running perfect before the wires shorted and the ECU Blew The front end has all brand new hood, fender, front bumper etc... (I have all the receipts from the Nissan dealer that these parts were purchased from. Receipts total about $3300) It was previously repaired before I purchased it. The cars overall is in very good condition. It just needs the parts that I told you in the previous email to be a 100% good street car. There are no marks or blemishes on the exterior of the car. The exterior is just really dirty right now and needs a good detail. The interior looks much better in person than in the pics you were sent. It is in excellent condition other than the fact that it is dirty. Once cleaned up the interior will be perfect. This car would make a perfect donor for a race car in my opinion."

i'm a little confused...aren't salvage titles typically given after an accident causes a significant loss in the value of the car? or if the car is stolen? i guess what i'm wondering is, why does the car have a salvage title, a blown ECU is covered under warranty, unless the owner did something he shouldn't have which caused it.

travisjb 06-15-2010 03:29 PM

Sorry for the confusion... the car is said to have no visible damage now... the car was involved in a collision and was written off by the insurance company... the car was fixed 100% and brought to auction... as you can see in my note above, $3,300 was spent on genuine nissan parts to fix the damaged body panels... it was then picked up through wholesale by the dealer who brought it to my attention... I'm posting here on his behalf... below is the event log from the carfax. Make sense?

ahh, ok, thanks for the info.

FuszNissan 06-15-2010 04:46 PM

I think Travis has the right idea, make it a track car. I wouldn't say pass on it. I just think the price is little high..IMO

Trips 06-15-2010 04:54 PM

Gotcha travis. gl

FuszNissan 06-15-2010 05:01 PM

pm'd

travisjb 06-15-2010 05:02 PM

I'm happy to bring forward any reasonable offer to the seller... feel free to call my cell or shoot me a PM

FuszNissan 06-15-2010 05:05 PM

I wouldn't be scared of it. Perfect for a track monster.

travisjb 06-23-2010 12:30 AM

seller has agreed to drop price to $19K...

... where else are you going to find a 370z with <5,000 miles for $19K!!!

rreign 06-23-2010 10:56 AM

hmmm this has me thinking now

FuszNissan 06-23-2010 11:07 AM

It's a great idea RReign. And you can build the motor to some serious power.

rreign 06-23-2010 11:09 AM

I have been back and forth in my head about 100 times trying to decide on spending the money on a Z or spending the money on a Supra. I was pretty set on the Supra MKIV but now that I see this car for this price, I am having second thoughts.

FuszNissan 06-23-2010 11:19 AM

It's a good project car. You are saving about 10-12K

rreign 06-23-2010 11:21 AM

I'm gonna give it some thought. I know I'm taking a chance because it may not be here later, but I gotta think about it. I'll get back with you soon though

FuszNissan 06-23-2010 11:23 AM

Also you would be spending at least 24k on a supra and then adding work, this would still come out cheaper.

travisjb 06-23-2010 12:08 PM

rreign, sent you a PM

rAiN 06-23-2010 12:30 PM

what needs to be done to get it back on a street? also was there a frame damage?

Insurance companies don't total cars (salvage) for $3K worth of replacement parts...Think about it.

travisjb 06-23-2010 04:27 PM

you're already grumpy! :)

standby and I'll get a more detailed response from the seller about the list of what's wrong / was wrong... I know that the engine wiring harness is being replaced above / beyond the initial list of damage that was repaired and my guess would be that the damaged engine wiring harness was the rationale for the insurance company declaring it "a total loss"... I can tell you from experience that getting that part is not cheap and not easy - I replaced the main harness on my car... In any event, the wiring harness is being fixed now

But standby and I'll get input from the seller to resolve the concern that Modshack brings up

RAIN, as for frame damage, I asked that question directly and was told there is zero frame damage - frame is factory spec... any buyer will want to verify all these things through inspection

this man has a point

travisjb 06-23-2010 06:29 PM

I never said the insurance company totaled it for $3K of replacement parts, Modshack is making an assumption there... and as I explained in post #22, the engine wiring harness was damaged and is being repaired... my guess is that is why the insurance company didn't want to mess with the car... getting one of those harnesses - I know from personal experience - can take 3 months to order from Nissan, and costs nearly $2K for just the part

travisjb 06-23-2010 08:30 PM

update from seller:

"It needs an ecu (which I just ordered) the wiring harness so that the lights and a/c will work. the part of the wiring harness for the engine is just fine. Needs a drivers side inner tie rod end a condensor and a radiator. Other than that a detail and its a perfect street car. No frame damage!"

So, need a buyer! :)

FuszNissan 06-23-2010 08:59 PM

I never want to order another wiring harness again

travisjb 06-23-2010 09:27 PM

haha, yeah that was not fun!

travisjb 07-08-2010 09:31 AM

Update... car is completely fixed and will be priced out the door at $21.5

rAiN 07-08-2010 01:48 PM

will this car be able to registered in va?

chuckd05 07-08-2010 02:11 PM

I mangled a s2000 when I was younger, and about 6 months later I got a phone call, A guy got it from an auction for dirt cheap, and fixed it up. He had found my info on a bill that was left in the glove box... All he needed was a key, which I had for him... The car was spotless, drove out to queens and the key was litteraly his last step, he started it and took me for a ride , thing rode just like it did prior to the accident..

His total amount spent was half of what I paid for the car... so it worked for him.

Pending the quality of work, I wouldnt be too scard of this car.

I second this, here is an example. i drive a wrecker here in florida, and i recently towed a car for a blown out tire which deployed the air bags, now when you run a car fax on this vehicle is says air-bay deployment. the first this you think is a major crash, but actually it just had a bad tire...sucks for that guys resale value!!

Kyle@STILLEN 07-08-2010 04:59 PM

Where is the car located?

LateralG'z 07-08-2010 09:17 PM

Wish this was available when I bought my Z

I would imagine so... you should be able to research it on the VA DMV/MVA website. I recall VA has a state inspection, but there's nothing about this car to my knowledge that would be a problem in a state inspection. So you'll want to focus on how VA treats salvage titles... again, to my knowledge, no reason why not

Ni55anPat 07-21-2010 04:14 PM

19k?

Push370zzz 07-21-2010 05:21 PM

not gonna lie, that thing isn't worth much more than mid teens based on what they go for in an auction...

carvalho360 07-21-2010 05:48 PM

would he accept 19 shipped

travisjb 07-22-2010 12:28 AM

Doubtful but ill ask

carvalho360 07-22-2010 05:11 AM
