The only car I think that would give you the same driver experience are hard to get rare expensive cars. Porsche 911r, Mustang GT350r, etc. Not sure about the Camaro, I would only consider a Z28. So it does makes sense to modify a Nismo 370z in my book. The performance you get for what you spend is cheap compared to comparable cars.
