It looks like either a bolt was loose or the flange(s) is damaged. Once a leak started, the exhaust gasses cut through the gasket. There may also be some cutting of the flange(s).

Get some good gaskets (any decent brand should work well), inspect the flanges for damage, replace gaskets, make sure flanges are tight and square, carry on.
