Default Replaced a Dying Battery and Now Car Seems a lot more Responsive? Normal?

Possibly a newbie question but I recent replaced the stock battery with an Optima Red Top and my 370z now seems a lot more responsive to my shifts (I have a 6MT Touring no Sports Package). Before the shifts seemed a lot slower and now they're much quicker especially from 1st to 2nd and also 2nd to 3rd there is a noticeable change as well.

I decided to change the battery because I pretty much needed to jump start the car every 2-3 weeks if I didn't drive it enough.

Can't say I'm complaining but just wondering why a simple change in battery seems to have yielded these results. Is this normal and supposed to happen when you change the battery?

Thanks!
