He could get hit with a lot of the known issues of the Z. CSC failure, bad ECU, oil consumption, etc...
If you're lucky, this will happen within the warranty period. Preventative maintenance is good, almost requisite for any car--but some are more prone to failure than others so I think that argument is kinda moot.
