Yes, you're absolutely right - VDC
off is the way to go - but we are trying to be old and sensible ...and remember all those posters and their pics of overturned cars and their pleas of, "I have no idea how it happened - there must have been oil/diesel/ice/a dog/slipperiness of some kind/a herd of slugs/zombie slime ..on the road".
The ideal combination, imo, is
VDC off + careful. But do you need to build up to it, maybe?
