I think you could do 255/40 front and 285/35 rear without issues. You may need some spacers, especially in front to keep from rubbing, it will look better too. Are you stock height?
If you keep the same side wall ratio and add width, you end up with more side wall height. If you use Tire Rack's specs pages with your tire option, it gives you overall tire height of the different sizes.
