Electrical tape glue gets messy when it gets hot. Even 3M's Super 33+ (the best electrical tape made, IMSNHO) will get gooey inside of a car.

My high-beam indicator was blinding me so I took a small piece of static cling film (the stuff that you have to peel off new electronics), marked it up with a black marker, and placed it on the bezel. Can be removed or repositioned without leaving any residue.
