This site is teaching me much; still much to learn about the car in general.

Now, car audio in general is a different story. I use to compete Pro IASCA and I have a degree in broadcast engineering, so I know my way around a speaker and amp.

I know Bose likes to use funky impedances and such. My best bet is going to be just getting one and digging into it.

Just so long as I know I can still fit a 6.5" in the door of a Bose Z, I'll be fine. My concern was everything in Crutchfield's "it fits" list is 5.25" component sets.
