"Good" tires available in my ideal sizes are...
  • Hankook Ventus R-S3 (Version 2)
  • Michelin Pilot Super Sport
  • Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec
Go to any auto-cross or track day and take a look at the tires being run by the experienced guys (not including DOT R-Comps). You will see Dunlop (Star Specs), Toyo (R1R), Bridgestone (old RE-11A and now RE71R), & BF Goodrich (Rival)(sorry if I left out your favorite). But you never see Michelin or Goodyear.

Why? I can only guess. For competitive drivers $ is never the issue. It is about lap times.
