basically the trick here is to use electrical/vinyl tape. i used the thinner stuff when i did mine as it is easier to curve. then remove while the plastidip is still wet. straight line. no sticking. done.

edit: looks like the OP went ahead and covered the whole thing, but i will leave this here in case anyone else finds it useful.
