I would imagine that because the seat is essentially designed to work in conjunction with the seatbelt that it would be ill-advised to run anything but the specified safety belt designed for the product. You might be "safe" but would it keep you from being ejected from the car? Would the pretensioners allow the belts to tighten appropriately? If i were to do seats i'd do belts too. Just my thoughts.
