I'm of the mind that you're right... dollar for dollar, getting non-NISMO parts can offer more value in actual performance. However NISMO is a brand name of sorts. Dollar for dollar, you can get a better performing PC or phone for the price you pay for an Apple... but there's a certain allure of having an Apple in certain social circles. That's the kind of effect NISMO wants to have. So the price is for greater performance... but equally for just having that authentic badge.

That being said: Nissan has to make sure they find a workable balance that doesn't make them too exclusive. Given the 2015 is now available as automatic, they clearly want more people to buy them. IMHO, Nissan really needs to get a third sports car. The GT-R as the +100K beast, the Z to float in the $50K range, and a $25K performer (the IDx?) for everyone else.

***EDIT***
Then again... the Z is supposed to be the affordable sports car, right?
