I finally got around to doing this after having the filter for almost 18 months. Super-easy to do, especially if you pop out the glove box. It literally pops off the hinges, it's just a little scary doing it the first time. Don't worry, those parts are super-meaty.

I forgot to re-attach the lanyard and just pulled it back off without removing any of the screws. Honestly, I would suggest you pull off the glove box before loosening any screws.

Once all that is cleared-out, accessing the filter is easy. Just remember that the locking tab for the filter door is on the right side. It pops right off then you slide out the locating tab on the left.
You know, I never put those screws back in since I first pulled it off. Much easier when i change the filter or mess with anything back there.
