Nissan just called.
Two things.
One a bad fuel pump and a minor tear in a hose. Both being replaced under the power train warranty (didn't need the extended one in this case it sounded like).
So, that's a "free" tow (thanks to the extended warranty), and a couple parts replaced at no additional charge to me. Only thing is the parts won't be in until Thursday so that's a bit of a pain but all in all, my faith in Nissan is restored even though that fuel pump should not have worn out so soon.
