It takes time and practice. The more you get used to it, the smoother it will be because eventually you will find the sweet spot of the gas and clutch together to make it not jerk or ride the clutch too much.

Simple easy first step to learn on driving manual is to not press the gas and release the clutch while in 1st gear super super slow and steady until you start to feel the car move and remember that postion of your foot on the pedal. (you can actually drive the car with out even pressing the gas, Just smooth clutch depressing.)

That teaches you how much you have to depress the clutch pedal in order for the car to move. Next time you do it add a tiny bit of smooth motion pressing the gas pedal.

Just one of many different ways to get better.
