Qualifying is now complete, Whincup on provisional pole at 2m08.0054s for Top-10 shootout tomorrow. First Nissan in P17, 0.9266 seconds off pole in a 2m08s lap). Nissans are still down 40hp as a conseqeunce of production-based nature of the VK56 cylinder heads in their race engines. Sunday promises to be wet which may yet provide an equaliser.

Two cars badly damaged out of practise .. #17 Ford of Chas Mostert and #47 E63 AMG both requiring substantial re-builds - the Merc is "stuffed" from firewall forward and will require modifications to the cage behind the firewall to get it straight - a massive effort to repair it. The #17 Ford also suffered major damage (check out the pictures here) ...

Heavy crash for Mostert in Practice 5 - Speedcafe

Race start at 10:30am on Sunday (Sydney time).
