wow thats crazy i didnt know you had to call the insurance company just to get permission, even for a day.

i work for state farm insurance here in america.
as far as if you drive a friends car, as long as person A (who owns the car)lets a friend or a relative drive their car, they are immediately covered under person A's coverage. If that friend or relative gets into an accident, then its pretty much person A's insurance premium that will be affected.

Same thing for renting a vehicle. if you rent a vehicle from hertz, enterprise or wherever, any existing vehicle coverage carries over to the rental as well.

so if u ever get a rental and they insist on you getting insurance, dont take it. waste of extra cash. in america that is, not sure how rental works in canada but man hope everything goes well bro. that scratch was heartbreaking to see =/
