yah, at least the S2K and this new S1.5K appears to be its own original platform.
another vert i should keep an eye on (if im seriously getting a vert) is the next gen miata. but im more a honda fan than mazda so i will probably just get the S1.5K if this is the case. mazda's are like japanese hyundais to me.
