6th gear is an overdrive gear, and as such, is meant to lower your highway/cruising RPM's. It's the only way Nissan could make a claim of 26 mpg highway. If you're trying to pass someone, 6th gear is not the gear to be in. For that matter, 4th gear would get pretty old above 55-60 mph
