Secondly, for Canadians, you have to pay 5% GST when you cross the border, and 8% PST when you register the car (unless you owned the car in the US for at least 1 year). So either way you have to pay tax. Plus the car is made in Japan so you have to pay an extra 6.1% duty if you import it.

That's true that we have to pay taxes when we get the cars back to canada. The 370Z will be used here in the States for unless 2 years. I got 03 350Z that will be going to canada too. The cars will be under canadian citizen who is returning home. I don't know if that will make it different on the taxes.
