If you unbolt the fuel line there is an o-ring that sits on the end that goes into the rail. You probably pinched it when you shoved it back in. Check it to make sure you didnt damage it, lube it up with WD-40 and work it back in.

As for the gushing fuel coming out when you take off the line, either let the car sit for a while or open up the gas cap prior to removal. Always put a rag underneath the line as you're removing it to catch any residual fuel in the line.
