best bet is to do your original post idea and trade with someone who wants a custom color caliper. Or buy the red ones and sell yours. The powdercoat holds up great for everyday use, but on some cars, especially ours, with horrific brake cooling, it does get soft and brake dust impregnates it.

Painting them yourself will look homemade, and after a year, will look spray painted. I do 5-10 sets of calipers a week, and I get tons of calipers in that people have painted themselves first that really don't hold up at all, even with the caliper paint. Its ok for a Honda, or even the base brakes, but not on akebonos.
