kinda like a soaking process. foam keeps area wet. i see. yah, i suppose for that purpose, it can have its benefits.

i prefer not using elaborate equipment as it's more things to worry about and more things to bring out and put away. this day and age, even waterless car wash works just as safely so.

for that, i use griot's spray-on carwash. it's great. especially for spot cleaning after driving through a puddle or something. no hazing, no swirls with common sense.
