Just installed my B&M about a week ago. No grinding and reverse lockout is still in tact. When you do the install you will see the ring that has the elevated portion and the keystock that has to fit inside it to hit reverse.

The shifter feels amazing and the throws are incredibly short. Yes it feels "notchy" and mechanical, but it doesn't take long to get used to it. I prefer it now. Feels much more precise and you can feel the engagement MUCH better. For what it's worth, I have a TWM knob and the entire setup sits VERY low.
