I don't plan on buying new mirrors, but here's my two cents:
I have to agree that a flat/matte black base would be a better option - at least for my Solid Red Touring. Maybe offer two colors: silver for lighter color cars and black for darker colors.

Make the swivel, neck, and base flat/matte black and you have a "floating" mirror; especially at night.

I'm not a big fan of CF. I don't like the look and I don't see the little bit of weight you would save with CF mirror shells to be worth it. I'd prefer solid black. But that's just me; I think Cragar S/S wheels are cool.
