You do realize that when in the Manual mode, the 7AT operates just like a manual, sans clutch pedal. So you can sit there and just 'go' and never leave 1st gear the same way as if you were in a 6MT. There is just as much room for error in the 7AT as in the 6MT.

The same thing could be said for SynchroRev Matching on the 6MT, it's doing part of the job for you calculating the proper RPMs when you downshift, so unless you never ever turn it on, it's kind of a situation of arguing 6 to one, half a dozen to another...

True an Auto may not be following suit of the 'traditional old-school' mentality of Manual trans or , but as we've seen, M3, GT-R, Lambo's, Ferarri's, Porche's, are all equipping some variant of an "Auto" trans... And lest we forget, top fuel dragsters.

Hate or not, it is still just as fun in its own way. Sure in a MT you gun it, go, off gas, lurch forward, shift, on gas, snap back, and do this 4 or 5 more times...

But with the 7AT in either mode, you are On the gas, and you never have to take your foot off... it's just go... go... GO. Kind of like riding a jet fighter or a rocket ship. It's hit the 'On' button, and see how far you can push the limit till your balls fail you.
