the mounting tape stretches so you shouldn't have issues pushing the metal clips into the holes on the console side. it will reshape itself and lock.

at least that's how ive been fixing dash trims in general when the clips were worn or the holes get too big. my Z has been pretty good with me opening up the dash about 5-6 times though.
