I agree, there are a few instances where HBO decided to jazz things up a bit...that is a great example. The second book diverges a lot more than the first, but it actually makes it more of an interesting read. I have been watching the HBO episodes again while reading through the books.

The HBO series really did a great job and I like how it's been adapted so far. They do have to deal with a budget and time contraints, so it inevitable that they would need to change a few things to keep the story moving.

That is what I figured...I always take any review with a grain of salt, but I figured that I would ask anyway even though I would read the books regardless. The casting I think is superb (but not spot-on) and the production is, well on par with all of HBO's shows (which is great). I can't complain about a quality, epic fantasy with great characters that will be around for at least 5 more seasons.
I can't wait to see Jojen Reed, Meera Reed (I bet she will be hot), Edmure Tully and Brynden Tully next season.
Thanks for the insight!
