You are on the right track, you are already better than most people. After four events, I think I was still on the bottom of the standing.
RWD street tire class is probably a better place for you. The competition doesn't seem as strong and you are not running a 2 sec disadvantage when someone brings in slicks. I have run against some of the guys in that class. Good driver, but definitely beatable.
